Hello,
I have just brought a new acer aspire 4820t laptop with windows 7 home premium on it. I have installed the latest build of jaws 11 standard. However, every time i use my laptop, it works ok for 10 or so minutes (sometimes longer) and then i get the following error message "error [6] this feature is not lisence to run on this machine". After doing research and contacting freedomscientific, i was advised that it is normally caused by the laptop comeing out of stand by mode or the display of the screen saver. I then disabled the screen saver and made sure that the laptop does not go on stand by. But this problem is still continuing.
After contacting Freedomscientific again, they told me that i would enable cpu xd mode from the bios and if that does not work then i would be better off with a dongle authorization.
I just wanted to know that isn't the ilm authorization the same as the dongle authorization. In other words the laptop is working fine for some time after restarting, so surely it will have the same issues with the dongle authorization as with the current ilm method.
Could someone also give me some info as to what the cpu xd mode does? i read somewhere that it should not be used on 64 bit machines.
Please could someone give me a solution or any ideas? As it is very annoying to have to restart my laptop in the middle of university lecture. And if i do have to purchase a dongle, does anyone know how much they would be in the UK?
Sorry for the lengthy post and thank you in advance
I think I'd contact Microsoft about your issue. Their is a hot fix for it, and I don't think it's a Jaws issue. Maybe return to the place you got it and have it re configured if that is easier.
Also have you tried the action center and gone to the repair section in the windows?
